A Very Special Friend

This quilt was a group effort.  My oldest Daughter worked as a nanny for a very special family.  She wanted to make a quilt for the mother that would forever capture the memories of that time in their lives.  

The daughter was little and would always have the cat in the baby buggy and the son would have Erin make him bows and arrows out of paper and string.(much safer for a 5 yr old)

Curious George

This quilt needed to feature the Curious George fabric

Base Balls and Basket balls are the favorite sport and is featured
by the Curious George fabric

The kid recieving this quilt has the nick name Bo-Bo.

Two Quilt of Valor Quilts to start off the new year.

Extra time was taken to do different blocks so I also took extra time to do a light custom job 

The back has a strip down each side so I centered the front to the back.

This is a log cabin style quilt.  It gives the illusion of curves when the blocks are placed this way.

You can see that the hearts and stars are all along the red pieces.  

Scrap Quilts

I am toying with making another scrap quilt.  This one will be made from baby clothes.  I love making memory quilts.  The two I have made before, my kids run their hands all over it and tell me which fabrics they remember.  So much fun and a labor of love.  Trying to decide if I want traditional or more modern. These are quilts I am using for inspiration   I didn't make all of  these yet.

Night and Day this is one I made and is made from scraps of clothes I made for my kids, scraps from other projects and a key fabric that I bought to tie the whole thing together and make it feel organized.

December QOV

This is a very busy quilt.  The use of pinwheels actually give your eye

  a place to rest.  I love the composition and color choices on this quilt. 

Choosing a pattern to quilt it was easy.  It needed stars and not to be 

busy.  I chose the star and ribbon pattern, it will show up well on the 

back. Thank you to the quilter that took the time to make this beautiful 

top.  It will be appreciated for a lifetime.  Often something that we think

 of  as a small thing is huge to the recipient.

Quilt of Valor Veterans Day

This is the Veterans Day weekend.  I was pleased to have a QOV quilt to finish.  This quilt top was well made and the borders didn't ripple or anything.  Wow it was a pleasure to work on.  Since the Quilter put so much effort and I had a little extra time I did something special on this quilt.  It is a point to point with stars and swoops.  This would be considered a custom treatment to this quilt.

Red, White, and Blue Stars

A very talented quilter who participates in the Quilts of Valor sent me this quilt to do and give to her family member.  She wanted an Edge to Edge pattern, but I couldn't help myself.  I put the Pledge of Allegiance on the red stripes and gold stars and an eagle on the blue field of stars.  This quilt was a pleasure to work on.

I then looked at the fabric for what I should do for the edge to edge.  You can see the paisley like shapes in the stars, the borders and the stripes of the flag.
